No Other Way to Peace in Korea? A Practical Path to Reunification
by Michael Schluter
(626 pages; published by Relational Peacebuilding Initiatives)
When seeking a shared philosophical and policy framework for a unified Korean Peninsula, a third way is required beyond the Juche-Socialism of the North and the Confucian Capitalism of the South. A relational approach, which prioritises the health of relationships within and between individuals, communities and organisations at every level of society, aligns with the religious and philosophical values that are deeply embedded across the peninsula.
Traditional Korean Shamanist, Neo-Confucian, Buddhist, Christian, Socialist and Capitalist values can be crystallised into a set of five overarching relational values which the author believes to be shared by the majority of the population.
These values are applied in the book across all sectors of public life.
